Chinese President Xi Jinping announced Friday that China is to build the whole Hainan island as a pilot Free Trade Zone. Hu Yuwei, head of Macro Research at the China Institute of Finance and Capital Markets, has told CGTN that the newly set-up Free Trade Zone is significant in its size and magnitude. In his opinion, this announcement showed China is “committed and serious” about further opening up China’s market.
