An inspirational pig that survived more than a month buried in the ruins after the magnitude-8.0 Wenchuan earthquake in 2008, lives in a stylish sty at Jianchuan Museum in southwest China's Sichuan Province. /VCG Photo
The senile pig named Zhu Jianqiang, or the “iron-willed pig,” obtained life-long scars on its feet and legs after the earthquake. /VCG Photo
The scars, however, become the pig’s identity, helping to refute rumors against its death. /VCG Photo
Raising a pig and raising Zhu Jianqiang is totally different, the pig’s current keeper Gong Guocheng told Chongqing Evening News. The animal goes for a walk every day at fixed times and eats customized meals. /VCG Photo
To ensure its health, the museum provides VIP treatment, including veterinarian care and weekly shower using a medicated recipe. /VCG Photo
Tourists flocked into the town where the museum is located to visit the heroic pig. “It [Zhu Jianqiang] is such a miracle, witnessing the strong-willed of a creature,” a tourist surnamed Liu told Chongqing Evening News. /VCG Photo
According to Gong, the longest life span of a pig is 15 years, which means the celebrity pig may only have two or three years of life left. “If one day Zhu Jianqiang is gone, we will keep its sty and play its videos for visitors,” Gong said. /VCG Photo
