Chinese skater Li Jinyu claimed a silver medal in women’s 1500m short track speed skating on Saturday.
The 17-year-old came after South Korea’s Choi Minjeong, and was followed by Canada’s Kim Boutin, who collected her second bronze to go along with the one she grabbed in the 500m.
In an interview after the competition, the Chinese skater said that she owed her medal to her coach, adding that she was rather surprised than nervous.
It is Team China’s fifth medal at the PyeongChang Winter Olympics, and the first medal in the short track speed skating events.
Li’s team members, 26-year-old skater Zhou Yang, who is also the gold medalist in the 2010 Vancouver and the 2014 Sochi Olympics, and Han Yutong made it into Women’s 1500m Final B.
