Award-winning Chinese director Wang Quan’an is working on his first English-language film set around US President Donald Trump’s proposal to build a wall along the US-Mexico border, according to a report by The Hollywood Reporter.
Wang will write, direct and produce “American Wall” and the indie film company Lupi Pictures is behind the production.
Dubbed "a tale of greed, vengeance, sex and ambition", the film follows the story of an unscrupulous New York architect who manages to secure the bid to build the wall by seducing a powerful woman with the right connections, only to find himself trapped within his own manipulations.

The casting is underway for a high-profile US actor to play the lead, Lupi Pictures told The Hollywood Reporter.
“American Wall” is expected to start filming in New York and Berlin later this year.
"Wang's unparalleled cinematic representation of social discourses over the last 20 years is bound to make for a frighteningly relevant and unmissable picture," Lupi Pictures said in a statement.
Wang Quan’an is no stranger to international film society. The 52-year-old won a Golden Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival in 2006 with his third feature “Tuya’s Marriage” and a best screenplay prize in Berlin for “Apart Together” in 2010.
