In the Chinese Super League, its third versus fourth at the Tianhe Stadium later tonight, when Jiangsu Suning visit champions Guangzhou Evergrande. A stunning late comeback from Beijing Guoan last Sunday left the seven time CSL titleholders with a 2-2 draw, and while they have suffered just one defeat in their first seven games, the hosts find themselves looking to bounce back against a rejuvenated side from Nanjing. Mike Fox has more.
Leading 2-nil in injury time it seemed unlikely Guangzhou would leave China's capital with just a point. But a lack of concentration at the back left Fabio Cannavaro's men feeling like they had suffered a defeat. Still, just one defeat so far has left them in good stead to defending their title for an eighth title in a row. But before there is any more title talk, first comes Jiangsu tonight who have shown this campaign they are not the relegation battles from the previous season.
FABIO CANNAVARO GUANGZHOU EVERGRANDE COACH "We must pay more attention to our opponent's counter attack during the match. We have to keep shape when our players go on the offensive so Suning will not have the chance to launch fast attacks."
Romanian coach Cosmin Olaroiu has enjoyed a relatively successful spell since taking over from Fabio Capello. The wins and one draw has given fans hope they can get back to competing at the top end of the table, and not looking over their should at potential relegation.
COSMIN OLAROIU JIANGSU SUNING COACH "Our target during every match is to improve game by game, day by day, and also play good football."
Ramires is back for Jiangsu and has begun training after suffering a thigh problem. This will be his team's third game in a week and they don't come much tougher than one of Asia's most successful sides. Mike Fox, CGTN.
