Military fighter jet crashes in S. Korea, killing one pilot and wounding another

One pilot was killed, the other severely injured after a military fighter jet crashed in the southeastern region of South Korea on Thursday on its way to an air base, Yonhap reported.
The F-15K jet with two pilots on board was returning to its base in Daegu after an operation when it crashed in the nearby town of Chilgok, 300 kilometers southeast of Seoul, at 2:38 p.m. local time.
No civilian damage has been reported yet.

A rescue operation is underway, but heavy fog is currently obstructing the search and rescue efforts, local authorities said.
The United States and South Korea are conducting a joint military drill amid a nascent peace mood on the Korean Peninsula. The drill will last for a month in April.
