Huang Kunming, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, attended the inauguration ceremony.
While addressing a symposium Thursday, Huang called for efforts to build China Media Group into a new mainstream media that was strong in guiding and influencing the public.
"The restructuring is significant in following the principle of the Party exercising leadership over media," Huang said.
Huang added that China Media Group should follow the right political direction, and guide the public with strong values.
