South Korean President Moon Jae-in's top national security adviser, Chung Eui-yong, has held a press briefing after meeting with the DPRK's supreme leader Kim Jong Un.
CHUNG EUI-YONG HEAD OF SOUTH KOREAN DELEGATION AND NATIONAL SECURITY OFFICE "North Korea made a clear case for denuclearization on the Korean Peninsula and said that there was no need to keep its nuclear program as long as there was no military threat against it and the safety of its regime was secured."
This breakthrough came after special envoys sent by President Moon returned from a two-day visit to the DPRK. Chung said the DPRK has expressed willingness to talk with the United States. He also said the two countries have agreed to hold a third summit at Panmunjom in late April, and the two leaders have agreed to open a direct hotline. Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump has responded through Twitter, saying that regardless of what happens the US is ready to go hard in either direction.
