World Trade Organization Director-General Roberto Azevedo has warned against allowing trade tensions to rise following the US moves. The director-general said disrupting trade flows will jeopardize the global economy while its recovery is evident but still fragile.
Meanwhile, former WTO Director-General Pascal Lamy called the US the main threat to international trade. Lamy said the US is the only major economy that has a protectionist agenda. Chilean Finance Minister Felipe Larrain said the current US-China trade dispute is not good for the global economy. He said Chile will have to work hard amid the economic uncertainty.
