Friday marks the 30th World AIDS Day. In conjunction with the day, a trailer for a film on the subject has been released in China.
"The Yellow Rose" focuses on a Chinese doctor who specializes in AIDS care. It is based on the true story of Zou Xiaochun, who has worked for decades on the front lines of disease prevention and treatment and serves as the director of the AIDS Treatment & Care Center at the Fushun Infectious Disease Hospital.
The film is directed by four-time Huabiao Award winner Ning Jingwu, and stars Jiang Hongbo and Ren Shuai.
"Despite impressive steps forward, the response to HIV/AIDS is still in its infancy in China. There have been documentaries on AIDS patients in China, but rarely on the doctors. We want society to know their stories," Ning said.
"Health care workers are at risk of viral exposure in the workplace while caring for the patients. In the documentary you see things like how doctors cope with occupational exposure, and the touching bond between doctors and AIDS patients," he added.

The trailer was also screened at the hospital where Zou had worked.
China is facing grim challenges posed by AIDS.
Worrying statistics from the State Ministry of Health, the Joint United Nations Program on HIV and AIDS, and the World Health Organization show that there were 68,000 HIV/AIDS cases reported between January and June this year, an increase of 8.5 percent over the same period last year.
The documentary will finish filming at the end of December.
