Chinese movie stars promoted their new movies: Lost in Love and June, at the Cannes film festival in southern France. And for some, it was their first TIME ever to be part of one of the greatest events in the show business world. Qi Jie has more.
Chinese actress Ma Su promoted her new romantic thriller, "Lost in Love" at the Cannes film festival, saying women in China have been speaking out.
MA SU ACTRESS "In China there's quite a lot of female filmmakers that have come out now and have talked about female topics that are important in China as well. We always believe that women are the other half. So the position of women in China is actually quite important."
In "Lost in Love", directed by Jianqi Huo, Su stars as a married woman whose life is torn apart after her husband leaves her for another woman. The film explores how a love affair between two people leaves passion and pain in its wake.
"Lost in Love" was officially launched at the Cannes Film Festival on May 9. It hits Chinese theaters on August 17, China's Valentine's Day. It's the first time that Ma Su and her co-star Wang Jia have been to Cannes, and both say they're "honored" to be at the festival.
MA SU ACTRESS "Cannes is a place that all the filmmakers and actors and people in the industry long to be. And so I feel very honored and very lucky to be here and was really happy and enjoyed being on the red carpet last night."
WANG JIA ACTOR "Since I was a little boy, I have watched the festival and the red carpets on TV and finally now I'm here, as an actor, on the red carpet. I feel so lucky and so honored to be here."
Also in Cannes, veteran actor Aaron Kwok announced the production of his latest movie "June" and explained that it was important to support the first-time director.
AARON KWOK ACTOR "How to support a new director is patient and to put a lot of effort by myself, and make her easy to go step by step and finish the movie."
As a hotly anticipated suspense drama, "June" is set to commence filming in mid-May. QIJIE, CGTN
