We begin in Beijing, where the Chinese Communist Party has nominated its candidates to head key state bodies. The nominations were decided on at a 3-day CPC leadership meeting, known as the Third Plenary Session of the 19th CPC Central Committee. Those positions will be voted on at the 13th National People's Congress and the 13th Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.
The meeting held by the party leaders also adopted decisions and plans to deepen reform of the party and of state institutions. Part of the plan for the reform will be reviewed at the first session of the 13th National People's Congress. According to the communique from the Party's meeting, the goal of the reform is to construct a complete, scientific, and efficient functioning system of the party and state bodies. The communique says the governing system is an important part of socialism with Chinese characteristics, and the guarantee of the party's governance.
