China will advance its cooperation with other countries in the world and bear more international responsibility in 2018, said Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in an interview with China Central Television (CCTV).
Wang noted that China will do its best to host four diplomatic events in the coming year, namely the Boao Forum for Asia, Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meeting, Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation and China International Import Expo.
The top Chinese diplomat hoped such diplomatic events will open a new chapter in China's engagement with other countries in the world.
As for bilateral ties, Wang said China will build a framework for stable and balanced development with major powers, deepen friendship with neighboring countries and perfect its partnership with developing countries.
"China will promote the healthy development of China-US relations, maintain the high-level strategic cooperation between China and Russia, and consolidate the good momentum of China-EU ties," added Wang.
He also noted that China will implement the results of the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, create follow-up mechanisms and adhere to the principle of achieving shared growth through discussion and collaboration.
We will focus on building infrastructure and international cooperation in production capacity, continue developing major international lanes and economic corridors, and comprehensively expand the Belt and Road Initiative, Wang said.
Moreover, the minister expressed China's resolution to "be deeply involved in global governance, guiding economic globalization towards a more inclusive and beneficial re-balance."
He told CCTV that China will work towards the political settlement of pressing issues, such as tensions on the Korean Peninsula and Afghan issue.
Wang also pointed out that China will implement the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, push forward international cooperation on climate change, continue fighting against terrorism, participate in drawing up rules in emerging fields, like the Internet and outer space, and oppose all forms of protectionism.
