Taliban militants have claimed responsibility for a suicide bombing near an airport in Afghanistan's Kandahar city.
Foreign forces were believed to be the target of the attack. NATO confirmed later that the blast hit one of its convoys, resulting in casualties but did not elaborate further.
According to eyewitnesses, the attack in Kandahar saw a suicide bomber target the convoy of international troops. The bombing is the latest in a surge of attacks by Taliban militants and ISIL fighters in the country.
The NATO-led military coalition consists of nearly 13,000 troops from 39 countries to train, advise and assist Afghan troops, who are struggling to contain Taliban insurgents.
