In a bid to better understand the secrets behind China’s technical marvels, CGTN followed these master craftsmen to unveil the stunning work they have contributed towards the Chinese dream! A total of 108 steps are needed to make a sheet of rice paper, following a method that was developed by the Chinese hundreds of years ago and is still widely used in arts and crafts. Under this procedure, over 80 percent of the work is still performed manually. Mao Shengli has been making rice paper for 29 years and helps keep the tradition of Chinese rice paper-making alive.
