At least 5 killed after bus crashes into Moscow underpass

At least five people were killed and 15 others injured when a bus plowed into a pedestrian underpass in Moscow on Monday, local police confirmed.
The bus crashed into the underground passage at the Slavyansky Bulvar metro station at around 3:00 p.m. local time (1200 GMT).

Police are on the scene and the bus driver has reportedly been detained.
According to Russian media, the driver said the bus suddenly started moving on its own after the brakes failed.
The cause of the incident is under investigation. Local authorities have already ruled out the possibility of the incident being related to terrorism.
Police are examining whether the driver failed to manage the bus or a malfunction of the vehicle.

The mayor of Moscow, Sergei Sobyanin, arrived at the scene of the crash, and expressed his condolences to the relatives of the victims.
