China has strongly protested against the United States' stance on Taiwan issues. Foreign Ministry spokesperson --Lu Kang--said Saturday that China has sent a "stern message" to the US, after President Donald Trump signed the so-called "Taiwan Travel Act" on Friday. The act aims to encourage mutual visits between US and Taiwan officials at all levels.
Lu said the US endorsement without legal restraint violates the One-China Policy and the Three China-US Joint Communiqués. Meanwhile, the Ministry of National Defense said the Chinese army objected to the US stance, emphasizing Washington should not interfere in Chinese internal affairs. The ministry requested the US to stop implementing the Act and all military connections with Taiwan, to maintain peace between the two countries. China's Embassy in the US expressed its strong dissatisfaction and protest over the move, adding that the One-China Policy is the political foundation for relations between China and the US.
