The conflict in Syria enters its eighth year in March.
Clashes in the war-torn country continue in both northern and southern areas. In Afrin, Turkish troops have been fighting with Kurdish YPG forces for more than a month. Tensions have also been on the rise with the entry of pro-government troops in the region to fight with Syrian Kurds. In the south, government forces are aiming to recapture the rebel-held enclave of Eastern Ghouta near Damascus. The intensified military offensive was launched on Sunday. Alaa Ebrahim has the latest.
