There's now a record-breaking number of billionaires in the world, owning a historic high proportion of the global wealth. That's the message from Hurun Global Rich List.
Almost 3-thousand billionaires from around the world are claiming a whopping 10.4 trillion US dollars altogether. That's equivalent to about 13 percent of the global GDP, and a 31 percent hike from the year before. The Greater China Region topped the list of countries and regions yet again with the largest number of billionaires, although none of them made it to the top 10. Meanwhile, the Chinese capital led all other global metropolises in the number of billionaire residents. Tencent founder Ma Huateng came out tops with an estimated wealth of 295 billion yuan or 46 billion US dollars. And a sign of just how competitive the list is, Jack Ma from e-commerce giant Alibaba is ranked only number 4 in China.
