Back to Beijing where mixed martial arts fans were given a treat when the sport's biggest promotion, the UFC, came to the capital. This was the second Fight Night ever held in the Chinese mainland after the first last year in Shanghai, and once again it would feature lots of local talent including the Leech, Li Jingliang, who thrilled the home crowds with an impressive win, and I was there to take it all in.
LI JINGLIANG WON BY TKO AGAINST ZAWADA "The cheers of the crowd best explain what it feels like to fight at home. They encouraged me a lot. This was the feeling in both Beijing and Shanghai where I could feeel the power of my country."
SONG YADONG WON BY UNANIMOUS DECISION OVER MORALES "I give 70 points to myself if there were 100. I think I had plenty of chances to knock him out, but I didn't. I hesitated a lot. The goal I set myself is to win the UFC bantamweight championship, and I will fight towards that goal, and hope I can realize it soon."
"The UFC brings a distinct experience to us Chinese. We have little access to MMA or WWE events. UFC strikes us with its visual impact and bloody action, and is more professional than our domestic shows."
"I love the spirit of never giving up and its take-downs. While facing difficulties, the fighters show the spirit of never giving up."
