China Diplomacy: Chinese Foreign Ministry holds symposium on foreign affairs

Members of the Chinese Foreign Ministry gathered in Beijing on Sunday to further discuss President Xi Jinping's speech he delivered during a foreign affairs conference. CGTN's Timothy Ulrich has more.
In attendance at the Beijing symposium. Chinese ambassadors, foreign affairs officials, and others met to discuss Xi's thought. Ideas such as the guiding principle for China's diplomatic efforts. Xi said Beijing's foreign policy forges cooperation with the rest of the world while defending its sovereignty, security and development interests.
Xi also vowed to elevate the country's opening-up policies to a new level under the Belt and Road Initiative. These ideas were the focus of the Beijing symposium. State Councillor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi delivered the keynote speech at the event. The Foreign Ministry touched on what Wang Yi spoke on at the symposium.
GENG SHUANG, SPOKESPERSON CHINESE FOREIGN MINISTRY "State Councilor Wang Yi elaborated on the significance, scientific connotations, and spiritual essence of Xi Jinping's thought on foreign affairs. Wang requires all diplomatic envoys and staff of the foreign affairs office to arm themselves with Xi Jinping's thought for foreign affairs, use it to guide their practice, and deeply implement it."
The symposium gave foreign affairs officials the chance to take a closer look into Xi's thought. Wang Yi affirmed his faith in the thought, and reiterated the Chinese president's call for national rejuvenation, promoting human progress, and contributing to the building of a community with a shared future.
