The BRICS cooperation mechanism has been in existence for 10 years. The member nations have focused on development, which not only benefits the people in the five countries but also offers a recipe for the world to address food and security problems, Xi said.
"BRICS countries are a community of shared interests and future," Xi said, urging the countries to give full play to the win-win spirit and jointly contribute to the development of the organization.

The heads of all the delegations expressed appreciation for the work conducted by China, which holds the BRICS chairmanship for 2017. They also reiterated their commitment to the success of the Ninth BRICS Summit under the theme of "BRICS: Stronger Partnership for a Brighter Future" to be held in China's southeastern city of Xiamen, Fujian Province, in early September.
The five BRICS countries' share in the global economy has increased from 12 percent to 23 percent in the past decade, while they have contributed over half of the global growth.
