At least 41 people were killed and more than 23 remain missing in landslides on the island of Biliran in the eastern Philippines after the region was battered by storm Kai-tak, Xinhua reports citing local officials.
Ten more bodies were found on Tuesday, Jun Dacillo, head of the Biliran Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office said.
Search and rescue operations are ongoing to locate survivors and bodies, Dacillo said.
Tropical storm Kai-tak has lashed the region since Saturday, triggering landslides and flooding, as well as damaging infrastructure and causing widespread power outages.
Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said on Monday that the storm had affected 62,309 families and almost 270,707 individuals.
