Scientists and environmental experts have gathered in southwest China's Guizhou Province for the Eco Forum Global annual conference. They'll discuss building a green future. CGTN's Yang Jinghao has more.
Embracing a new era of eco-civilization. This is the theme of the Eco Forum Global this year. Participants from government, international organizations and academia, have gathered in the provincial capital Guiyang to brainstorm a sustainable way for green development, at a time when the world is faced with diverse ecological challenges.

NICHOLAS ROSELLINI
UN RESIDENT COORDINATOR IN CHINA "We need a forum like this to allow experts to exchange views and to hear what is the experience of China and what is the experience of other countries. And I think this eco forum in Guiyang is a very good platform."
During the opening ceremony, Chinese Vice Premier Sun Chunlan stressed China's determination on eco-civilization construction and detailed its ecological blueprint.

SUN CHUNLAN
CHINESE VICE PREMIER "China will actively push forward the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the construction of the green 'Belt and Road'. We will contribute to maintaining the hard-won Paris Agreement and building a fair, reasonable global climate governance system that is beneficial to everyone."
The environment is an integral dimension of the 2030 Agenda. The annual conference focuses on how to synergize China's green "Belt and Road" initiative and the sustainable development goals. And China's transformation of its energy structure is seen as an endeavor worth sharing.

NICHOLAS ROSELLINI
UN RESIDENT COORDINATOR IN CHINA "Certainly if you ask what is the area where China has useful experience to show to other countries, I think (it's) the area of renewable energy – solar, wind power, all these areas are what other countries are interested to learn."
China is exerting great efforts in its rural revitalization. The guests will also discuss how to fight poverty through "green" industries and balance economic development and environmental protection.

HANS FRIEDERICH, DIRECTOR-GENERAL
INTERNATIONAL NETWORK FOR BAMBOO AND RATTAN "I think that people will realize that this is not either-or, we can easily match the two. But it does mean different thinking. It means innovation, it means trying to balance some of these development path, and it means political will to actually trying to reverse some of the trends."
Many say that environmental issues have no boundary. All the concerns can only be addressed with timely and persistent efforts.

YANG JINGHAO GUIYANG "During his congratulatory letter to the forum, Chinese President Xi Jinping said China is willing to jointly build a clean and beautiful world by cooperating with the international community. Many attendees also said they believe that China will play a greater role in international environmental affairs. Yang Jinghao, CGTN, Guiyang, Guizhou Province."
