The presidents of Turkey, Iran and Russia have failed to agree on a ceasefire in Syria's rebel-held Idlib Province.
The trilateral meeting in Tehran came amid Syrian government and Russian warplanes' mounting air strikes in Idlib on Friday morning. Putin and Rouhani pushed back against Erdogan's call for a truce. Putin said a ceasefire would be pointless against terrorists, while Rouhani said Syria must regain control over all its territory.
Though a final statement from the meeting underlined there could be no military solution to the conflict, and it could only end through a negotiated political process. CGTN's Michal Bardavid has more on what came out of that meeting.
