Let's move to the ongoing Brexit negotiations. The European Union has unveiled a draft treaty that avoids a hard border between Northern Ireland and Ireland.
The draft treaty creates a common regulatory area without an internal border. The common area covers Ireland and Northern Ireland. A joint committee of representatives from the EU and the UK will oversee arrangements for the border. EU chief negotiator Michel Barnier said daily life on the border should continue in the same way after Brexit as it does now. Barnier also urged that the Brexit talks to be concluded in autumn to allow for ratification by EU member countries.
