China's top legislature, the National People's Congress (NPC), prepares to
amend its Constitution for the fifth time, as the vice chairperson of the Standing Committee of the 12th NPC, Wang Chen, explained Monday regarding the draft amendment to China's Constitution to around 3,000 deputies to the 13th NPC in Beijing.
Twenty-one items will be amended, including writing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and adding a sentence stressing the leadership of the Communist Party of China to the Constitution, according to Wang.
