Beijing has warned against opening a Pandora's box in the Middle East following Washington's decision to deploy more troops there amid rising tensions with Tehran. Our reporter Su Yuting has more.
SU YUTINGBEIJING "State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi emphasized that the US should change the practice of extreme pressure, adding that any unilateralism is not based on international law. It can not only solve problems, but create greater crises."
WANG YI CHINESE STATE COUNCILOR AND FOREIGN MINISTER "We hope Iran will make prudent decisions and not so easily abandon the nuclear agreement. We hope that all relevant parties will respect Iran's legitimate rights. China's determination to safeguard the joint comprehensive agreement has not changed. China has also worked closely with all parties to reconstruct the Arak heavy water reactor at a nuclear plant in the southwest of Tehran."
SU YUTINGBEIJING "Both sides agreed that efforts should be taken against the bullying practices and safeguard the basic principles of international order to maintain peace and stability in the Middle East."
