China has expressed support and encouragement for the positive developments on the Korean Peninsula urging direct dialogue between the DPRK and the United States.

We believe this is in line with the common wish of both sides in the region as well as the international community. And it will also help push all relevant parties back to the negotiating table. We hope the current dialogue between the DPRK and South Korea can lead to direct talks between the DPRK and the US. After all, the core issue on the peninsula is security, and the key to resolve it is on the DPRK and the US."
