At least 10 people were killed after a road collapsed in Foshan city in south China's Guangdong Province on Wednesday night.
As of 7:05 p.m. on Thursday, two more bodies were found under the debris, raising the death toll to 10. One person is still missing, said local authorities.
A group of experts have been dispatched to the scene to direct the rescue operation and to prevent a secondary disaster.
According to local authorities, a sudden water leak in the city's subway Line 2 construction site caused the road to collapse at around 8:40 p.m. local time.
Local media reported that it is an eight-lane bidirectional road. The collapsed area is about the size of two basketball courts and the pit is six to seven meters deep.
The rescue operation is still underway.
