A Palestinian zoo owner in the Gaza Strip has put his three lion cubs up for sale, fearing that he won't be able to afford to feed them as they grow older.
Mohammed Joma'a said Friday that many people were interested, but that he had no serious buyers, as they all shared the same concern.
Instead, people brought their children to play with the nearly two-month-old fluffy cubs at the zoo in Rafah, in the southern Gaza Strip.
Most of Gaza's two million residents have other priorities as life is getting increasingly hard for them.
Poverty, unemployment and constant power shortages, coupled with the Israeli-Egyptian blockade on Gaza, have stifled the local economy.
In recent years, international animal welfare groups have carried out several evacuations for debilitated monkeys and lions after their shelters were hit by Israeli shells or owners failed to take care of them.
