A spokesperson for China’s Commerce Ministry on Thursday says that China’s recent anti-dumping probe has nothing to do with the US’s Section 301 investigations.
“This is a common trade remedy investigation case, we don’t think it should be linked to any other cases,” said Gao Feng at news press conference on Thursday. “China will conduct the investigation fairly based on the rules of the World Trade Organization (WTO).”
The remark came after the Chinese ministry launched their anti-dumping probe into imported hydrogenated butyl rubber from the United States, the European Union and Singapore on Wednesday, which was formally submitted by two Chinese companies.
On August 18, the US initiated an investigation of China’s intellectual property practices under Section 301 of the Trade Act of 1974, which created trade tension between the two countries.
