Hurricane Katia worsens to a Category 2 as it nears Mexican coastline

Hurricane Katia is expected to hit Mexico after intensifying to a Category 2 storm on Friday as it moved southwest across the Gulf of Mexico.
According to a statement from Mexico's national weather service, Hurricane Katia is estimated to reach land around 11 p.m. today on its southeastern coast. 
The SMN called on people in the region to be extremely cautious due to expected rain, wind, and flooding. 
Katia is currently one of three active hurricanes in the Atlantic, including Jose and Irma.
