Baghdad is baking under an intense heatwave that has sent mercury levels soaring to 49 degrees Celsius in the Iraqi capital on Saturday.
The stifling heat has led residents to search for ways to keep cool as some reported experiencing headaches and difficulty in breathing.
Children were sent to swimming pools for the entire day to protect them from the scorching temperatures. While shopkeepers were seen cooling themselves down with makeshift sprinkler systems and fans.
Ice-cold watermelon has also been in high demand.
Iraq's weather authorities have warned that temperatures will climb to as high as 51 degrees Celsius this week in most parts of the country.
