In southwest China’s Tuxiang township, 60 percent of the children are left behind by their parents. A month ago, 127 students there posted pictures that they drew of their new year wishes online. Since then, backpacks, toys, and clothing poured in to this impoverished mountain town. Many of the children's parents work in China’s coastal region and have not seen them for years. A town volunteer says that even if the children are cared for, they are still psychologically apart from their parents.
