Director-General of United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) said China’s International Import Expo is vital to the world in the face of challenges facing multilateralism.
“There is some tough water and rough roads. [The] Import Exhibition is the first time UNIDO is facing this kind of opportunity,” Li told CGTN.
UNIDO is one of the three international organizations to be partners for this November’s China International Import Expo in Shanghai.
It is the first import event of such large-scale and wide coverage, he said, noting the expo is not only very meaningful for China to achieve its “Made in China 2025” strategy and opening-up but also important to the world.
China’s trade performed well in the first quarter in 2018, up 9.4 percent year-on-year and the country’s imports volume is growing faster than exports, reducing its trade surplus by 21.8 percent.
