Technological breakthroughs are drawing a big audience at the China-ASEAN Expo in Nanning. CGTN's Sun Ye has more.
Rockets that can increase rainfall by as much as 10 percent. It's the kind of rocket science the developer says ASEAN countries could use.
SUN YONGTAO SHAANXI ZHONGTIAN ROCKET TECHNOLOGY "China has already popularized weather moderation technology in agriculture and environmental protection. While ASEAN countries are only starting to try it, it could be handy for them. The region is often affected by changing climates, especially seasonal droughts."
These meteorological satellites are able to render CT scans of the atmosphere, with "lightning images" of 2 milliseconds. That's another Chinese cutting-edge technology heading for Southeast Asia.
TANG SHIHAO NATIONAL SATELLITE METEOROLOGICAL CENTER "ASEAN countries are often victims of extreme weather, like typhoons. Such conditions often come fast and are forceful. We can provide the kind of meteorological information that can help. And many have signed up for the service."
From the sky, to those on the ground, tech is a definite keyword at the CAEXPO.
SUN YE NANNING "Many participants here say advanced technology will be what really drives growth in the future. And ASEAN countries, along with China are reaching out to one another."
ARLINDA MINISTRY OF TRADE, INDONESIA "Our companies have just signed letters of intent to build a High Technology Zone in Indonesia, incorporating the latest technology, like a smart city. China has been a leader in various fields and we have complementary strengths."
And technology is likely to find many partners in the area. SY, CGTN, NANNING.
