It can be hard to experience authentic Chinese culture when you're living in another country. But China is determined to BRING that experience overseas. In France, a series of cultural events have been carefully curated to give foreign audiences access. Let's take a look.
In the "Experience China" exhibition, people can understand Chinese culture in three segments: "design for inheritance", "design for life" and "design for China".
On top of sharing Chinese culture to the French, the exhibition also explains how the country -- through design and art -- is trying to preserve its traditional cultures since the reform and opening up process 40 years ago.
SONG XIEWEI ORGANIZER, EXPERIENCE CHINA "We have brought some artworks from various fields and industries. For example, we have brought national banquet ceramics to the exhibition as China has become an international big country."
HUANG CHUNMAO DESIGNER "What I brought here is a set of banquet tableware used at the G20 summit in Hangzhou. The whole set of tableware takes into account the classic Chinese style and also reflects the inclusiveness and openness of the Chinese people."
OLIVIER PEYRICOT DIRECTOR, SAINT-ÉTIENNE DESIGN CENTER "At this exhibition, we can see the harmonious coexistence of diverse expressions. I think this is very good. This set of porcelain indicates an inheritance of Chinese handicrafts, and I like the variety of design patterns."
This exhibition displays nearly 100 artworks from many famous designers in China and France.
It also includes the multimedia artwork "Beautiful Forest" and traditional Chinese craft work and embroidery which were once exhibited in the Chinese Pavilion in the Venice Biennale.
