You may have heard about Latinos re-populating abandoned villages in rural Spain and Portugal. But a lesser known phenomenon is underway on the peninsula – Latinos revitalizing urban centers.
Artists, designers and small business owners are bringing creative and economic activity back to Barcelona and Valencia.
It’s part of the evolution of Latino immigrants – people putting down roots and investing where they live instead of sending money back to their countries of origin. In fact, wires from resident Latinos in Spain are down by about 30 percent in recent years.
