International Monetary Fund Managing Director Christine Lagarde has reaffirmed the rising profile of emerging markets in the global economy, in response to Chinese President Xi Jinping’s keynote speech at the World Economic Forum. She says China has grown into a big economy over the past few years and played a critical leading role in the global economy. She also expressed the belief that China will continue to pursue reforms to reflect the bigger role of emerging countries.
