A DPRK defector made a dramatic escape across the border. DPRK soldiers chased him and fired about 40 rounds. South Korean soldiers crawled up and dragged him to safety as DPRK troops gathered on their side of the tense dividing line. The defector remains hospitalized after two rounds of surgery that removed bullets from him.
