The Farmer's Dance is a representative dance favored by the Korean ethnic group in northeast China and is especially prevalent in the Korean congregating area of Jilin, Heilongjiang and Liaoning provinces. It is characterized by "beating tambourines" and "swinging elephant caps". The dance is now performed mostly at special festivals and folk art competitions. It was inscribed on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by the UNESCO in 2009.
