The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) on Wednesday said it is considering missile strikes against the US military base in Guam, hours after US President Donald Trump warned Pyongyang that any threat to the US would be met with "fire and fury".
"The KPA Strategic Force is now carefully examining the operational plan for making an enveloping fire at the areas around Guam with medium-to-long-range strategic ballistic rocket Hwasong-12 in order to contain the US major military bases on Guam including the Anderson Air Force Base," reported the DPRK's state news agency, KCNA.
Spokesman from South Korea's Unification Ministry, Baik Tae-hyun, said Seoul will continue to contribute to peace and security on the Korean Peninsula and reconciliation and cooperation between the two Koreas.
At the same time, Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga said Japan is supporting the US against missile threats from the DPRK.
