The Kremlin says it's studying a move by cable and digital TV providers in the United States to take Russia's RT television channel off the air in Washington, saying the move looks illegal and discriminatory. Earlier, US intelligence agencies called the Kremlin-backed station "Russia's state-run propaganda machine". They also accused it of contributing to Moscow's campaign to interfere with the 2016 US presidential election, something Russia denies.
DMITRY PESKOV KREMLIN SPOKESPERSON "At first glance it looks like an entirely unfounded decision. Entirely unfounded, because even the status of foreign agent cannot by itself be the reason for cable providers to halt service to a mass media organisation. They demonstrate discriminatory policy towards a mass media organisation in the United States, which by the way goes against U.S. legislation and contradicts all these declarations about freedom of speech and democracy which we hear day and night from Washington."
