The teenage Palestinian girl who was charged for striking an Israeli soldier in the occupied West Bank has accepted a plea deal, and will be sentenced to eight months in prison. 17-year-old Ahed Tamimi became a heroine to Palestinians after footage of her kicking and slapping the soldier outside her home went viral. She was 16 at the time of the offence in December. Soldiers had deployed during a weekly Palestinian protest in the village against Israeli policy on settlements in the West Bank.
