Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas will address the United Nations Security Council on Tuesday, the first by a Palestinian leader since 2009. During his speech, Abbas is expected to reiterate the need to implement UN resolutions calling for a two-state solution to the Israel-Palestine conflict. He is also expected to reject the United States' controversial recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital, and ask for other international powers to facilitate peace talks with Israel.
