After Donald Trump announced the withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal, the EU and other countries in the deal all made their stand clear. German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas has said it's crucial that Iran sticks to its obligations under the agreement. Maas was speaking after talks with Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. Jessica King reports from Moscow.
JESSICA KING MOSCOW This was the first time Germany's Foreign Minister has met his Russian counterpart in Moscow. They both reaffirmed their commitment to the Iran nuclear deal, and are concerned about what Sergey Lavrov described as the 'serious violation' by the US. Russia says the deal is extremely important for regional stability, and noted Iran's 'measured response' to the announcement. Heiko Maas said Germany was also pleased Iran wanted to keep the deal afloat for now, and added that Moscow could use its influence on Tehran to make sure they remain part of the agreement. Both foreign ministers expressed concern about the impact of possible US sanctions - and how they would affect not only Europe and Russia, but all countries that trade with Iran. They have agreed to meet again to continue talks on how to deal with America's exit from the Iran nuclear deal. Jessica King, Moscow.
