Mesmerizing Migration: Rare birds flock to Momoge Wetland in Jilin Province
[]
Before we go, let's take a look at migratory birds which have flocked to Jilin Province this spring.
Momoge Wetland is a national natural protection reserve. It is also the main stopover for birds during their migration, especially for endangered species, such as white cranes.
This spring, the migration of white cranes began earlier than previous years by more than ten days. More than a thousand white cranes have made a pit stop there for food. The birds usually pass through the wetland during autumn and spring, staying for around a hundred days before departing for their far-flung destinations. During those two seasons, up to 3,800 white cranes will throng Momoge, making up 90 percent of their population worldwide.
