"An American in Paris" is coming to town! The Tony Award-winning Broadway musical wowed Beijing audiences with its romantic storyline and breathtakingly beautiful ballet scenes. Sun Wei has more.
Based on the 1951 Academy Award-winning film of the same name, the dance musical tells a story of a young American soldier, a French girl and an indomitable European city, each yearning for a new beginning in the aftermath of war.
Bringing the original Broadway production to China for the first time, resident director Sean Kelly said the stage adaptation has its own features that are different from those of the movie.
Though it's about art, love and friendship tightly woven with America and Europe, the thrilling music and dance speak a language adored by audiences of various places across the world, and this time, Beijing.
The Beijing stop includes 8 shows until Sunday. Following that it'll travel to Shenyang and Zhengzhou to complete its China tour. SW, CGTN.
