A dangerously overloaded truck in Changde, central China’s Hunan Province was seen earlier this week trapped by overhead cables on a city street.
The driver was forced to climb onto his cargo to disentangle the wires.
Last May, a truck overloaded with concrete pipes overturned on the Middle Ring Road in Shanghai, damaging the road surface and causing a 5 kilometer section of the highway to be closed for two weeks while repairs were carried out.
According to the country’s laws on road safety, drivers can be fined for overloading, with punishments increasing depending on how much cargo they try to carry. In October China Daily said safety needs to come first regarding overloaded trucks, criticizing police who fine drivers but still let them continue on their journeys with overloaded cargo.
